2012-12-14
at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology  in the Chemical Biology program
Application no later than 2013-01-10. UFV-PA 2012/3366
The project involves investigations into morphological changes such as biofilm formation, coccoid and spore formation in mycobacterial cells seen in response to different metabolic/ environmental stress conditions. Genes/ factors that are involved in and influence morphological changes causing sporulation and biofilm formation, as well as signals that regulate these processes will be identified and their roles will be studied. The global gene expression profiles in cells that have been grown under different growth and stress conditions will be mapped. The focus will be on Mycobacterium spp., in particular the fish pathogen M. marinum, considered to be a model system for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Duties and Eligibility:
Academically excellent and motivated candidates with a degree at Masters level in natural sciences with focus on microbiology/ molecular biology and/ or infectious biology and has experience to work with Mycobacterium spp. are invited to apply. Research experience, high marks, and practical experience in microscopy and imaging of Mycobacterium spp. cells are particular merits. The candidate should have a good social competence, and be able to work in an international research environment. An excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is an absolute requirement.
